Like the title of Hambone Willie Newbern's song “Rollin and Tumblin,” written in 1929, the Mississippi Blues Band is rolling and tumbling this Delta Blues Music of the 1920s and 30s to audiences while educating them on its influence on 21st Century Blues Music.
The Mississippi Blues Band plays music from the prohibition era when people were bootlegging and being entertained in speakeasies. The Mississippi Delta Blues is the music from the 1920s and 30s, and it is the original Blues Music derived from Country and Gospel Music, which has progressed to Chicago Blues, Blues Rock, and Southern Rock Blues played today. Delta Blues is played in a finger-picking style with slides on acoustic guitar and embellished with harmonica, bass, and vocals. The Mississippi Blues Band is loyal to the traditions of the Mississippi Delta Blues Music and its artists, and they hope to enlighten audiences about the roots of the Blues.
